[HR] What is the difference between HR Training and HR Skills?

  • Vista allows you to record both HR Training and training classes as well as HR Skills.
  • While similar there are some differences in these two forms.

The HR Codes form has various types of Codes including: Training Codes and Skill Codes.

  • HR Training is intended to document the training the employee has received.
  • HR Training Classes are intended to formally schedule and train the employee and document the Training received.

  • Training classes can include a Skill so that the net result of the training is a Skill.

Skills can also be documented separately.

  • For example, an Operator with Crane Operation experience can be considered a Skill that the employee had upon hire.
  • If the employee brings these skills upon hire, this can be added to the HR Resource Master as a Skill, independently from Training.
